Whew – how to define strategy? After a lot of teaching, practice and headscratching I still can’t – but this video by a group in the MBA strategy class I teach is one of the best so far… what do you think?
About Creategy
Creativity, strategy - words that mean so much they can end up meaning little. Creategy is a made-up word to help us think about creative strategy anew. What are the invisible strategies and patterns of creativity? What practices and disciplines can 'create creativity' in our lives and in the way we run our organisations?

Just checked it out now, it’s a great video, inspiring, open ended and though it embraces so many aspects of strategy, it shows that strategy is not something that can really be defined in black & white, it should be something fluid, which needs to be moulded to the vessel it’s being applied to.
Yes – I often think what would happen if we were educated at school to use or even accept our multiple intelligences – in our new work world we could use our art and our science, our drama and our dance all together to understand and connect. A strategist like this would be able to take on some complex challenges…….
I was interested in the words ‘pattern’ and ‘rhythm’, specifically as these work in the dimension of time, allowing us to return to projects, aims and goals on a regular basis, weekly, monthly, yearly or even through decades. How can we help create conditions that allow people the time to explore their multiple intelligences, espeoially in collaboration with established institutions? Perhaps through rhythm in time? Even an hour a month is something, if the whole hour is one of complete focus.
What a great representation of strategy! My overarching feeling while watching it was one of pleasant surprise. Maybe that is what strategy is – pulling together of a number of dimensions which are relatively familiar in a manner which surprises and delights.
I like this thread – focus, rhythm, recombination, surprise. If we thought of these as strategy rather than planning and control aspects then maybe our workplaces would be very interesting. I posted something on Rhythm – have you any more ideas around these thoughts? I think it could be a very interesting avenue to explore…
